Sigur Rós “Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust” (2008)

July 3, 2011

Or With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play Endlessly for those not speaking Icelandic. The album number 5 by the Gwyneth-Paltrow-approved post-rockers kicks off with fantastic Gobbledigook, one of their best singles ever, an ode to life as it is. Inní mér syngur vitleysingur is also charming but this is not enough to call Með suð… a successful record. The feeling of communing with something extraordinary is gradually replaced with boredom. Jónsi cannot draw the listener’s attention but the band’s other members do not help him a lot by making such washy music. Many people will find a haven in this LP but what I find here is just untapped potential.

hydrameter: 2/5

Key Tracks: Gobbledigook, Inní mér syngur vitleysingur
