Fleet Foxes “Helplessness Blues” (2011)

August 14, 2011

If you haven’t heard of Fleet Foxes, it means that you’ve got no idea what’s cool in music right now. These critical darlings released a debut album in 2008 to an overwhelming acclaim (Pitchfork’s album of the year, together with Sun Giant EP by… Fleet Foxes). Three years have passed and there is a feeling that it’s still 2008 as the band sounds exactly the same. No progress, no good. Foxes are short of ideas and even if they sporadically touch the sublime (like on Grown Ocean), an overwhelming boredom dominates.

hydrameter: 2/5

Key Tracks: Grown Ocean, The Plains / Bitter Dancer
