Hooray for Earth “True Loves” (2011)

September 1, 2011

Hooray for Earth astound with a clever mix of pop, rock and synth – their debut LP is that good. Tracks from 3 to 5 are the core of the record. They show Noel Heroux and his bandmates as crafters of songs that are the missing link between what’s electronic and what’s organic. Same supports the idea that techno doesn’t have to be cheap and embarrassing. True Loves is a powerful experimental pop track that demands multiple listen (youtube the video now!). In short, Hooray for Earth do ’80s better than most ’80s bands. Anyone who knows what’s on the cover, please don’t keep me waiting.

hydrameter: 4/5

Key Tracks: Sails, Same, True Loves
