OOIOO “Armonico Hewa” (2009)

November 9, 2011

The fearless girls of OOIOO led by Yoshimi P-We continue their path on Armonico Hewa, the successor to Taiga. Sadly, the band’s stunts feel less focused and effortless from time to time. Maybe OOIOO wanted to make up for three years of waiting for a new release. It would have been better, though, to get rid of those fillers (the second half of OOIOO’s sixth sucks more than often) which spoil the pleasure of listening to this exercise in psychedelia. Nevertheless, Armonico Hewa is still an enjoyable record with some staggering moments. OOIOO shine bright during the opening tracks and Ulda. More importantly, the gorgeous closer Honki Ponki erases the bad impression completely.

hydrameter: 3/5
